Christ stands at the center of all three.
Zion is a confessional Lutheran church in Wausau and a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS), gathered around Word and Sacrament in the heart of the city.
The Promise We Trust
“Out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.”
“Lutheran” confesses our faith, leading us to the Holy Scriptures where Jesus speaks.
The Life We Live
“Behold Zion, the city of our appointed feasts!”
“Church” embodies our life, strengthening us with the gifts that Jesus gives.

WORSHIP
Zion keeps the ancient rhythm of the Church: daily liturgies of prayer and preaching, centered in the Lord’s Supper and rich with Holy Scripture.

Daily prayer marks the hours at Zion: Matins at daybreak Monday through Friday, Vespers on Wednesday evenings, and Compline at nightfall Monday through Thursday.

“All you need is love” once sang the Beatles. But what is meant by such “love?” The 1960’s had its own kind of “love” in mind. Is that the love Jesus is getting at here in Matthew 22? No, the love Jesus refers to here is love that is demanding – heart, mind, and soul. It is a love externally facing – to the neighbor. And it is a love which is wedded to faith in the one true God. True love flows from this, yet even our love will always fall short and never be true. True love comes from the Son of David, Jesus, the true Savior.
